A safe handoff checklist before selling or giving away a phone.

1. 1. Run and verify full backup

   You only get one clean chance before data is erased.

2. 2. Sign out of cloud and app accounts

   Account lock and activation issues happen when sign-out is incomplete.

3. 3. Disable activation lock when transfer is final

   New owner setup fails if this step is skipped.

4. 4. Remove SIM or reset eSIM profile

   Prevents accidental account and number exposure.

5. 5. Perform factory erase and verify setup screen appears

   Confirms personal data is removed before handoff.
